Tooth Whitening
Tooth whitening has been available since the late 1980’s and is becoming more and more popular. The major benefit is that it has a huge improvement on the appearance of your smile without the need for any drilling of the teeth. Crowns and some types of veneers when used on otherwise healthy unfilled teeth are invasive procedures. They will only shorten the life of the front teeth in the long term.
Bleaching of the teeth can be done in surgery with the combination of bleaching gel and a bright blue light or alternatively the entire treatment can be done at home in your own time. Home bleaching is cheaper as it requires less chair time. In chair bleaching produces a fast one stop result and is suitable for those with busy lives or who simply don’t want to do the bleaching at home. We always take before and after photographs of your teeth so you can see the difference the treatment has made. Existing crowns and fillings will not lighten so we will need to assess your suitability for this type of treatment.
If you have just one discoloured natural tooth it may be possible to bleach just this tooth so it matches the rest of your teeth.
